ZyXEL's New VDSL2 Portfolio and GPON Solution Revolutionizes Broadband Access
Groundbreaking VDSL2 Portfolio to Deliver High-Performance Services
ZyXEL Communications showcases its new VDSL2 fleet – the VMG8948/VMG8924/VMG8324 and VMG5313 along with GPON end-to-end portfolio as two major broadband access solutions in BBWFE2013. With the future-proof 802.11ac wireless technology in combination with advancements such as Vectoring, Bonding, Combo WAN, DECT ULE and TR-181 (issue-2) functionalities, the new fleet of Internet access solutions once again manifests ZyXEL's long-standing leadership in DSL broadband technology and application developments.
Vectoring is the major feature of ZyXEL's new VDSL CPEs capable of reviving the performance of DSL copper wires for networking efficiency. By cancelling out the noise or electromagnetic interference on VDSL2 lines in a bundle, vectoring enables higher speeds and also doubles the bandwidth for better throughputs. With the improvement, service providers can enlarge service coverage for nearly three times; and the Combo WAN (DSL and Gigabit Ethernet) feature of VMG8924/VMG8324 offers high availability and flexibility that enables service providers to configure the device conveniently for different FTTH/FTTB/FTTC deployments without double investment of additional efforts and resources on replacements or re-configurations. With the new VDSL2 CPE portfolio featuring bonding, vectoring and combo WAN, it generates more revenues for service providers with different service/price packages offered to their subscribers by deploying different end-point VDSL2 services before the enormous optic fiber network infrastructure is ready.
On top of the 802.11n wireless technology built into the entire range, the ZyXEL VMG8948 and VMG8924 feature the cutting-edge 802.11ac concurrent dual-band technology for additional power of performance. It enables much more than the astounding throughput of up to 1300 Mbps: with the capability to perform concurrent packet transmission over both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, the mechanism alleviates traffic congestion and cross-interference within a single band to a great extent when a large number of electronic devices are accessing the network simultaneously. It has been significantly boosted to secure high-quality transmission for high-definition multimedia applications.
Access Transforming from Copper to Fiber; from ultra-broadband to beyond
According to a recent research report, the average number of Internet-connected devices per household is 5.7. Consumers watch multiple HD video streaming on TVs in different rooms, from Pads and cell phones often in the same household at the same time. They upload and download multimedia files and use bandwidth-hungry peer-to-peer services. Smart home service with sensors, gateways and machine-to-machine networks are also broadening the need of Internet connection. A huge amount of data being exchanged from devices to devices and from users to the Internet all generates new need for greater bandwidth.
The ZyXEL OLT2412 is a GPON OLT supporting 1+1 10G uplink with full IPv6 functionality that helps service providers to deploy fiber-to-the-home services. It is able to provide up to 2K FTTH subscribers with eight hot-swappable PON line cards, or 32 active non-blocking Gigabit Ethernet fiber links.
The ZyXEL OLT2412 Series helps deploying fiber-to-the-home applications by connecting to the customer devices via fiber lines to provide high-speed triple-play services. The modular chassis of the OLT2412 Series can accommodate up to 8 line cards, 2 uplink cards and 2 management cards. Along with a maximum of 2048 GPON connections, the OLT2412 Series also provides up to 32 active fiber access connections. Management cards, uplink cards and power modules can be configured as redundant components to offer an additional level of network stability. It bridges up to the FTTx network and down to the subscribers via the GPON ONT, PMG1006 (SFU, single family unit) providing Gigabit bandwidth access services, or VoIP services through the PMG5318 (HGU, home gateway unit) that features 802.11n Wi-Fi and a 4-port built-in Gigabit Switch.
