Zyxel celebrates double win at Network Computing Awards 2021

The team at Zyxel UK were delighted to celebrate a successful awards evening, coming out on top in two categories at this year’s Network Computing Awards. Nominated by Networking Computing readers, Zyxel took home the trophies for both ‘Network Project of the Year’ and ‘Cloud-Based Solution of the Year’.

This year’s ‘Cloud Based Solution of the Year’ was awarded to Zyxel’s Nebula Control Centre. Rachel Rothwell, Regional Director Western Europe at Zyxel, commented: “We are very proud of this achievement, we have spent many years listening to our customers and developing a cloud platform with all the facilities our resellers would require, the maturity and depth of the feature set is now well established and is clearly recognised by winning such an award. I would like to thank all our valued resellers for their votes and loyalty to Zyxel.”

Zyxel also won the ‘Network Project of the Year category’ for it’s work with the Boudica School Trust, alongside Eastern Voice and Data.

Overseeing the operational activities of several educational programmes and institutions, the Trust has the responsibility of providing an effectively managed access control system to all entrances and exits to their academies. Eastern Voice and Data was brought in to help the Trust manage the extensive IT network comprising Chrome books, PCs, laptops, phone systems, broadband/leased line connectivity, CCTV, and automated gates.

Over the summer holiday period, Eastern Voice and Data installed the Trust’s new and improved network system, which involved upgrading the school’s network to Zyxel’s centralised Nebula cloud network.

Callum Jackson, the Technical Director for Eastern Voice and Data who led the installations, added: “We designed and implemented a network that would harden security protection against threats from both inside and out. A primary goal was for the entire network to be centrally managed by the trust IT team with the aim of reducing the amount of site visits and increasing the visibility of any issues. The project ensured continuity of equipment and configuration throughout all the academies within the trust. This allowed the entire network to be maintained efficiently by the trust IT team.”

For a regional technology business to win a national award of this standing is quite notable as it demonstrates the capability of a local business. It’s also significant that the Education Trust itself is held up as a trailblazer in effecting change for the benefit of their students.

Jonathan Lumb, IT Manager at Boudica Schools Trust was quoted saying: “The network has become an important tool for both our teachers and students because technology helps us provide engaging and powerful learning experiences and content. The new network offers greater efficiency and security, and through implementing the cloud-based web filtering software, we can control the types of content that can be accessed by pupils. The new network system creates better learning opportunities and standards, while reducing costs.”

Rachel Rothwell, Regional Director Western Europe at Zyxel, commented: “I am especially proud of this award, the recognition for our customer’s hard work and the collaboration between Zyxel and our reseller’s to help drive, deliver and succeed on improving the learning and security of our children’s education. The challenges to upgrade the network, improve the speeds and centralise the management has become more complex due to the evolution of cloud computing creating more challenges on demand and cyber security. We couldn’t deliver this without our valued partners and we thank you eastern voice and data for choosing Zyxel.”
