ZyXEL Solutions Support ‘Connected’ Hospital Beds

Hospedia selects ZyXEL as its preferred supplier of DSLAM’S and Networking Equipment

ZyXEL Communications UK Ltd (ZyXEL), a leader in networking technology and the UK subsidiary of one of the world’s leading broadband solutions specialists, has been selected as the preferred supplier of networking and DSLAM equipment for Hospedia, the media-focused company that provides bedside entertainment systems to up to 10 million patients a year in more than 150 hospitals around England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
 
Using ZyXEL equipment, Hospedia can install a single bedside unit that provides patients with TV / telephone / Internet and other services available for use 24hrs a day 365 days per year. The solution uses IPTV and VOIP telephony.
 
Hospedia has selected a number of products from the extensive ZyXEL range, including various IP DSLAMs, Ethernet and Gigabit switches and ADSL routers. "Following thorough validation and testing in Hospedia’s lab, we chose ZyXEL because of its unparalleled feature set and competitive price point. Also critical to us was the support ZyXEL is able to provide us with. We intend to rollout our new services, based on the infrastructure supplied by ZyXEL, in six hospitals accounting for more than 3000 hospital beds,” said, Ben Packman, Commercial, Media and Business Development Director, Hospedia.
