ZyXEL AMG1302 router gives ISPs more potential to drive profits

February 13, 2013

ZyXEL Communications, a leading provider of equipment for the service provider community, is giving ISPs the chance to deliver more to their broadband customers and enhance their profitability with a new router that is easy to customise and comes with built-in future-proofing.

The ZyXEL AMG1302-T10A router enables ISPs to deliver a tailored service and ensures that customers can make the most of voice, video and smart technologies and the connected home. ZyXEL has already won significant business from ISPs for the four-port gateway due to its excellent set of features, stable performance and ZyXEL’s capability to adapt the router to meet the needs of the service provider.

Mark Torrans, ZyXEL’s Head of Service Provider Group UK and Ireland, says: “All ISPs want to deliver the very best set of options to their customers and ideally, they need a router that will meet all of the needs of their customers, all of the time – and provide good future-proofing for both themselves and the customer. The AMG1302-T10A router ticks all of these boxes and more. It has great 802.11n wireless support, security and QoS. It also provides standard TR-069 remote management, so service providers can manage and configure client devices remotely without manual intervention from end users. This means that they can offer customers a great level of service and support to customers at minimal cost.”

With full support of ADSL 2+, the AMG1302-T10A is ready to cope with the higher demands of next-generation network connections. It provides stable and reliable 802.11n wireless connectivity for high-speed data and multimedia delivery. Its strong performance has been verified by an independent report from HomeTechReady*1, in which the AMG1302 consistently delivered high throughput in two separate home environments*2.

The router comes with a stateful packet inspection firewall with additional built-in protection against denial of service attacks. Support for QoS means that users service providers can offer support for IP-based voice, video and data for dual and triple-play offerings.

Torrans adds: “The AMG1302-T10A is the ideal router for ISPs looking to deliver great performance to customers who want to the best use of smart connected devices such as tablets and smartphones in the home, and take advantage of the new and exciting entertainment and utility services that are now being made available to broadband users in the UK.  For ISPs, it’s the right product in the right place at the right time.”

Notes:

1 HomeTechReady Product Test Exit Report on the ZyXEL AMG1302 – issue 1.1, November 2012

2 – In the analysis of aggregated average wireless throughput, the HomeTechReady report states: “The ZyXEL AMG1302 performed well in throughput test results across the locations in the two test homes, with an average upload transfer rate of 67.2 Mbps and a download rate of 77 Mbps. This is considered good performance for a 2x2 antenna configuration wireless router.”

In its analysis of aggregated maximum wireless throughput, the report stated: “The ZyXEL AMG1302 router achieved a maximum upload throughput of 91.7 Mbps and download throughput of 93.9 Mbps in our test. This score is approaching the maximum throughput achievable over the 100 Mbps Ethernet LAN (server to router connection) in our test – usually in the region of 94-95 Mbps after TCP overheads. In both results the maximum performance was achieved in the same room as the router (in Home 2) with the router transmitting in 40 MHz channel bandwidth.”
