Reseller partners help ZyXEL grow its share of UK market for smart managed switches

July 15, 2013

Wokingham, 15th July 2013 – ZyXEL Communications, a leading supplier of networking and communications solutions, has seen a steep rise in its share of the UK smart managed switch market, thanks to the increased support and pro-activity of its reseller partners.

With a strong partner programme in place that provides great incentives for partners, and a product line that delivers exceptional value and ROI for customers, ZyXEL has seen its sales of smart managed switches rising sharply.  According to the latest figures from market research firm CONTEXT, ZyXEL claimed a 13 percent of the UK market – up from 5.5 percent in the same month of the previous year.

Most of the increase has come since the launch of the GS1910 range last July. This gave partners a really competitive offering, capable of competing with the biggest brand-names in the business, says Antony Byford, Channel Manager for the UK and Ireland at ZyXEL.

“Our partners have done a great job for us over the past few months. In the GS1910 range we have a really competitive smart managed switch line-up that ticks all the boxes for customers. Importantly, these products sell on their merits in terms of the performance, feature-set, reliability and long-term ROI they deliver – not on price alone. Our partners are rewarded with decent margins and incentives when they sell our switches, so it’s always worth making the effort to sell a ZyXEL solution.

“Smart managed switches are the fastest-growing segment of the switch market right now and we have been targeting the SMB and mid-market sectors, as well as key verticals, such as education and hospitality. Those efforts have been successful and the question for any partner reading this is: ‘If you have not seen much of that new business, why not?’. We are confident of increasing out market share of this sector further over the coming months.”

The CONTEXT figures apply to all types of smart managed devices – PoE and non-PoE, 10/100 Mbps and Gigabit models. ZyXEL is already strong in the fully-managed market and is planning a series of launches throughout 2013 that will further strength its competitive position. Byford says: “We know that our key rivals in the smart managed and fully-managed switch markets have taken note of our progress. But we believe we have a strong value proposition and – importantly – one that enables our partners to maintain consistent margins while delivering great solutions and investment protection to their customers. That means ZyXel partners can compete for and win new business in all segments of the market – whatever the competition.”

The GS1910 range offers excellent PoE capabilities and with 24-port, 48-port and stackable models, they can be easily integrated onto any network. They are really cost-effective for customers who want to step up from Fast Ethernet to Gigabit and with uplink support for 10GB, can support the heavier bandwidth needed on the backbone to cope with increased levels of rich multimedia traffic. SNMP is also included, so they can be managed alongside any other standard network device.
